I grew up around the trades and traveled for union work alongside my dad before spending years doing it myself as an Operating Engineer.

I've chased the work, called the halls, packed up, worked away from home and tried to figure out where the next good call was coming from. Comparing scales, overtime and schedules. Figuring out whether the per diem made it worth it. Finding a place to stay. Leaning on other members for word of mouth, and running into information that was already weeks old.

Technology changed. The way travelers find work really hasn't.
